Nursing Objectives

The objectives and purpose of EMBMT Nurses group is to improve the nursing care of patients undergoing blood and marrow transplantation. In achieving this purpose the group will:

• Promote and develop this sphere of nursing throughout Eastern Mediterranean Region
• Promote and coordinate educational program for nurses engaged in caring for patients undergoing blood and marrow transplantation
• Identify and built a corpus of knowledge specific to the sphere of nursing
• Encourage the development of and participation in collaborative research
• Encourage exchange program for nurses in blood and marrow transplantation care with the existing EBMT nursing group
• Provide means of communication between similar groups and individuals engaged n the sphere of nursing
• Establish link with other organization that may influence the development of blood and marrow transplantation nursing

Achievement of the nursing group are multiple and challenging

• EMBMT Nursing Group established its own constitution, mission and vision
• Membership directory developed. Directory accessible in the website
• Formation of Sub working group
• EMBMT website was developed
• EMBMT members are provided with individual webmail
• EMBMT newsletter with I page for Nursing
• EMBMT nursing forum
• Educational and training sessions were put in place for nurses from those countries to receive required training as per transplant centers request
• Quality Management Training Course was held last June 29 to July 1, 2011 in Dubai, UAE for EMBMT Nurses

• Extended family typing for Immune deficiencies diseases
• Oral mucositis prevention & treatment

Future plans

• BMT certification for nurses in the region
• Cross training of nurses within The EBMT and the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research centre
• Stem Cell Nursing Symposium
